Giant finished...

I finally managed to finish my Giant which I started what seems like a while ago.

I'm quite happy with how most of him turned out, particularly the flesh tones. He sits nicely with the rest of my WoC stuff.

I think I will tackle some of my Hasselfree stuff next and then dive back into my Marines.

Cheers all,

Pom

  2. Cheers guys.

@Randroid - I wasn't sure the pictures would convey the moss look I was going for.

    Thanks again guys.

  3. yay! That skin look AMAZING!

PLEASE tell me how did you achieve that. I'm so used to paint chaotic ironclads that painting flesh it's such a pain for me. And I loved that flesh, looks brilliant!!

    Nice job!

  4. @ Taurus - Cheers (sorry for the late response).

@ Nesbet - Thanks mate, nice to know others like what I have managed here.

The skin started of with a tallarn flesh (foundation range) base coat over chaos black primer and was washed with ogryn flesh, then devlan mud, then thraka green with the Devlan and thraka being very watered down - I was just looking to tint the recesses.

I then reapplied the Tallarn, leaving the recesses shaded, and then slowly built up layers by adding small amounts of rotting flesh until I hit 'the sweet spot' - the point where I was happy with the tones achieved (this was the first mini I have really achieved some decent transitions on - more layers works if the paint is nice and thin and the colour graduation is not huge).

I then muffed it by adding another layer which was nearly straight rotting flesh with a hint of Tallarn. This was too extreme so I went back to a previous mix and corrected. I did use this extreme rotting flesh/tallarn mix on prominent areas as a hard edge highlight - particularly around the face, knuckles etc.

The growths were done with straight rotting flesh, washed with thraka green and retouched with rotting.

Thraka Green was also added to the chaos star on his belly.

Overall he is not as 'green' or Nurgley as I wanted originally, but fits the idea that he is a giant marauder better. When I get around to the marauders they will get a similar (although not as complex) treatment. I hope to get back to my WoC soon

    Cheers again for stopping by.
